“It was reported that there were three deceased individuals at the location and the caller was admitting to shooting them,” read a statement from the Comanche County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon arrival, members of the DeLeon Police Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Comanche County Sheriff’s Office discovered 63-year-old Earl Stephens III and 18-year-old Ashlyn Smith deceased. 62-year-old Patricia Stephens was flown by helicopter to JPS Hospital in Fort Worth where she succumbed to her injuries.
22-year-old Brendan Jenkins of Plano, Texas, was immediately taken into custody and the scene and booked into the Comanche County Jail on a charge for capital murder of multiple persons — his bond set at $3 million.
The Texas Rangers are assisting the Comanche County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation.
“The Sheriff’s Office extends its thoughts and prayers to the families affected by this appalling event and ask that the communities respect and support them in their time of grief,” stated Sheriff Chris Pounds.
