Officer-involved shooting in Dallas Saturday early morning ended up being fatal for one person, while another was critically injured

Dallas, TX – Bedford Department officials said that the responding officer tried to pull over a speeding vehicle on Highway 183 as they suspected the driver was drunk at the time. Instead of stopping the vehicle, the driver reportedly opened fire and fired several shots at officers who had already started a pursuit.

After hearing the guns fired, officers from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department joined the chase. Meanwhile, police from the Dallas Police Department aided as well.

According to Bedford police, the motorist came to a halt in the 2200 block of N. Stemmons Freeway and started shooting at policemen. The car’s occupant exited and surrendered.

Several policemen returned shots until a Bedford police officer shot and killed the suspect on the spot. He was declared dead seconds afterwards.

Several cars, including police vehicles, were fired and destroyed during the gunfight. The culprit, whose name was not immediately given to the public, shot and badly wounded a driver in the neighborhood during the gunfight.

The victim was sent to Parkland Hospital for treatment right away. It was first revealed that the person had received significant injuries and was in critical condition, but no more information has been supplied since then.

Fortunately, none of the responding law enforcement officers were hurt. It is unknown if the passenger who surrendered is facing any charges.
