Arlington, TX – Arlington Police Department officials say a woman who set her boyfriend on fire will face a murder charge shortly.

The 24-year-old woman, alter identified as Breana Johnson, was reportedly involved in an altercation with her 25-year-old boyfriend, Ricky Doyle, on July 18 at a petrol station on East Mayfield Road.

According to investigators, Johnson purposely set fire to the backseat where the victim was seated.

As others tried to use fire extinguishers to put out the flames, authorities said Johnson drove away.

The following day, Johnson was arrested on one count of aggravated assault.

Doyle was burned all over his body. On August 2, he was pronounced dead.

Authorities are collaborating with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office to increase the case to murder.
