PLANO, TX – The city of Plano has scheduled a special meeting to discuss a path forward in the Plano Tomorrow lawsuit just days before a court’s deadline for staff to submit a referendum petition to council members.

Plano City Council will meet 1 p.m. Aug. 2 in private to discuss the lawsuit in the wake of the Fifth District Court of Appeals’ latest ruling, which undermined the city’s legal position as it attempted to protect its comprehensive development plan from efforts to repeal it.

Council members will “receive a detailed analysis prior to the Sunday meeting, which is confidential legal advice,” City Attorney Paige Mims said in a statement.

Following the private discussions, there will be an opportunity in open session for council to take action resulting from those talks, according to the meeting agenda.

The city did not say July 31 what options it is considering in advance of the meeting.
