Woman gives birth naturally 4 years after her own mother birthed her first child

PLANO, TX— A Texas woman gave birth naturally on Wednesday four years after her first child was birthed by her own mother through surrogacy.

A spokesperson for the Medical City Plano Labor and Delivery says giving birth naturally was a “lifelong goal” of 32-year-old Kelly McKissack “despite a serious diagnosis of Methyl Tetrahydrofolate Reductase Mutation and Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome, a genetic blood clotting disease with an autoimmune disorder.” Medical officials explain McKissack had to take daily blood thinning injections to sustain a healthy pregnancy.
