2022 Texas QB Commits to the Hokies
PLANO, TX – Alex Orji’s measurements come in at 6-3 and 225 pounds exiting his junior season at Sachse High School. The potential to build a strong, leading quarterback is evident here, with Orji showing much of the same stature of previous Virginia Tech Quarterbacks.
According to 247 Sports, Alex Orji currently sits at a .8688 rating composite and a .86 rating from 247 itself. Also, Alex ranks as the 11th DUAL quarterback in the 2022 recruiting class and is at 558th nationally. Currently, Alex will be the highest ranked commit to join the Hokies 2022 recruiting class joining others like Braelin Moore, Harrison Saint-Germain, and Devin Farrell.
Viewing Orji’s recruitment, it appeared that Oklahoma and Michigan led the way in terms of pulling in his commitment. However, a fast-blossoming relationship between Alex Orji and the football staff proved to be too much to ignore. You would have to assume that Beau Davidson was a huge part in this recruitment process, as this is his home-area.
This commitment from Orji will mark Virginia Tech’s 7th verbal commit from Texas in the past 3 recruiting classes for the Hokies.
When it comes to playing ability, it is known by many that Alex Orji can play the tires off of the QB position. His ability to move in the pocket freely mixed with his ability to easily escape it on command has made Alex Orji a respected name in Texas. And when paired with Justin Fuente who has grinded out such QBs as Jerod Evans and Paxton Lynch, there is no doubt that Orji can hit high levels of play while in Blacksburg.
