Eight were Dallas residents, two were from Grand Prairie and one each lived in Irving, Lancaster and Richardson.
County Judge Clay Jenkins drew attention to the deaths of the younger victims Tuesday, but he noted that coronavirus vaccines have been found to be very effective and reduce the chance of hospitalization or death for fully vaccinated people nearly to zero.
“Each person’s vaccine moves us closer to herd immunity and a victory for America against COVID-19,” Jenkins said in a written statement.
Of the new cases, 237 were confirmed and 45 were probable. The numbers bring the county’s overall case total to 296,327, including 255,644 confirmed and 40,683 probable. The death toll is 3,820.
The average number of new daily cases in the county for the past two weeks is 256. For the previous 14-day period, the average was 273.
Health officials use hospitalizations, intensive-care admissions and emergency room visits as key metrics to track the real-time impact of COVID-19 in the county. In the 24-hour period that ended Monday, 221 COVID-19 patients were in acute care in hospitals in the county. During the same period, 354 ER visits were for symptoms of the disease.
According to the state, 934,620 people in Dallas County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 556,066 — 27.4% of the county’s population 16 and older — are fully vaccinated.
Across the state, 6,259 more cases were reported Tuesday, including 4,375 new cases and 1,884 older ones recently reported by labs.
The state also reported 57 COVID-19 deaths, raising its toll to 48,677.
Of the new cases, 3,554 were confirmed and 821 were probable. Of the older cases, 595 were confirmed and 1,289 were probable.
The state’s case total is now 2,848,820, including 2,444,933 confirmed and 403,887 probable.
There are 2,967 COVID-19 patients in Texas hospitals, including 568 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. On Monday, 3.7% of patients in the hospital region covering the Dallas-Fort Worth area were COVID-19 patients — below the 15% threshold the state has used to define high hospitalizations.
The seven-day average positivity rate statewide for molecular tests, based on the date of test specimen collection, was 4.9% as of Monday. For antigen tests, the positivity rate for the same period was 3.0%. A molecular test is considered more accurate and is sometimes also called a PCR test; an antigen test is also called a rapid test. Gov. Greg Abbott has said a positivity rate above 10% is cause for concern.
According to the state, 10,197,092 people in Texas have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 6,593,612 — 29.4% of the state’s population 16 and older — are fully vaccinated.
The latest victims all were Fort Worth residents — a man in his 50s, a woman in her 60s and a man in his 80s. All three had underlying high-risk health conditions.
Of the new cases, 114 were confirmed and 78 were probable. The numbers bring the county’s case total to 254,915, including 214,563 confirmed and 40,352 probable. The death toll is 3,378.
According to the county, 165 people are hospitalized with the virus.
According to the state, 692,965 people in Tarrant County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 450,888 — 27.9% of the county’s population 16 and older — are fully vaccinated.
The state added 204 cases to Collin County’s totals Tuesday. No additional deaths were reported.
Of the new cases, 141 were confirmed and 63 were probable. The numbers bring the county’s case total to 88,767, including 73,352 confirmed and 15,415 probable. The death toll is 811.
According to the county, 78 people are hospitalized with the virus.
According to the state, 439,020 people in Collin County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 276,423 — 34.5% of the county’s population 16 and older — are fully vaccinated.
Denton County
Denton County reported three deaths and 164 cases Tuesday.
The latest victims were a Copper Canyon man older than 80, a Denton woman older than 80 and a woman in her 70s who lived in an unincorporated area.
The newly reported cases bring the county’s case total to 73,588, including 54,326 confirmed and 19,262 probable. The death toll is 482.
According to the county, 23 people are hospitalized with the virus.
According to the state, 342,526 people in Denton County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 223,302 — 32.0% of the county’s population 16 and older — are fully vaccinated.

The Texas Department of State Health Services has taken over reporting for these other North Texas counties. In some counties, new data may not be reported every day.
