GRAND PRAIRIE, TX – A mental health clinic is expanding in Grand Prairie to serve more patients, as public health officials say more people are dealing with mental health issues as a result of the pandemic.

Metrocare opened a new clinic this month that will provide care for as many as 130 people a day, 25% more than it was able to serve in the past.

“Our communities are weary after a trying year,” Grand Prairie Mayor Ron Jensen said in a statement. “Now, more than ever, we need spaces like Metrocare that foster healing and quick access to mental health care.”

Metrocare, the largest nonprofit provider of mental and and behavioral services in Dallas County, opened its Grand Prairie clinic in 2012.

Its new clinic, 1020 S. Carrier Parkway, includes collaborative spaces for clinicians, eight treatment rooms and an outdoor therapeutic playground.

Clinicians will provide mental health care to both children and adults, according to Metrocare.
