Highlights of Ohio State 5-star QB commit Quinn Ewers at Elite 11 Dallas
SOUTHLAKE, TX – The above video features highlights of Ohio State five-star quarterback commit Quinn Ewers competing at Sunday’s Elite 11 Dallas Regional camp at Southlake (Texas) Carroll. Ewers, ranked as the nation’s No. 1 overall 2022 prospect on the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and Top247, earned an invitation to the Elite 11 Finals.
“Ewers repeatedly showed all of the traits that have put him atop the 2022 class for the past year. One of Ewers’ most unique attributes is the second life his throws show on the back half. More than any other quarterback at Sunday’s event, Ewers’ throws seemed to accelerate as they progressed toward the receiver, as if the second half of the throw had another gear that other quarterbacks don’t show.
“Ewers does that while looking smooth and effortless in his tempo and delivery. He varied arm angles at will in rollout reps, as if challenging himself to mix it up and show his array of release points and functional athleticism in a more controlled setting.
“Whether it was ripping throws over the middle of the field or the perimeter in the short-to-intermediate range, or unleashing downfield against a strong wind that did not affect his throw, Ewers lived up to the billing in earning his Elite 11 Finals invitation.”
Ewers missed six games in the middle of his junior season, but returned to lead Southlake Carroll to the Texas Class 6A Division I state championship game before the Dragons fell to fellow perennial power Austin Westlake. In only eight games, Ewers threw for 2,442 yards, 28 touchdowns, and five interceptions as he completed 66 percent of his throws. He also ran for 133 yards and three touchdowns. Below is the 247Sports scouting report on Ewers.
Ewers broke out in a monster sophomore season in 2019. He threw for 4,003 yards, 45 touchdowns, and only three interceptions, while rushing for 568 yards and nine touchdowns. Ewers led Carroll to a 13-1 record and a Texas 6A D-I state quarterfinal appearance.
