PLANO, TX – Police in Plano, Texas say they have rescinded charges against an 18-year-old man who was arrested while walking home from work.

The incident occurred on February 16th around 10pm.

Officials say they were called to the area to conduct a wellness check after someone in the neighborhood spotted a man walking in the roadway with a short sleeve shirt on during a snowstorm.

Bodycam video shows the officers trailing the 18-year-old identified as Rodney Reese for about two minutes before they decided to arrest him.

Footage also show the officers asking Reese where he was going and if he was Ok to which Reese replied that he was fine and that he was walking home.

After the arrest Reese spoke to reporters at the Associated Press stating that he works at Walmart and he was walking home when the police showed up.  He said that he didn’t need their help that’s why he continued walking.

According to Police Chief Ed Drain, the department decided to drop the charges against the teen because his arrest was not consistent with what the officers were called out to investigate.

While Drain insisted that Reese’s arrest was not racially motivated, Reese believes it was.
