NASA astronaut photographs the Texas Gulf Coast from space
TX – A member of the Expedition 64 crew, which is currently on the International Space Station, took this photo on Dec. 25 with a Nikon D5 digital camera using a 24 millimeter lens.
The field of view is about the same as what astronauts see with their unaided eyes from the space station windows, according to NASA Earth Observatory. But the picture has been enhanced to improve contrast. The photo centers on Houston, home to NASA’s Johnson Space Center, where astronauts live and train. On the lower left is Corpus Christi, and Austin and San Antonio can be seen in the upper left of the photo.
