Officer Bill Rollins Retires After 26 Years of Service

PLANO, TX – Hello Plano neighbor,

You have seen me post retirements in the past but today’s is especially hard for me personally. Today marks the last day for Officer Bill Rollins here at the Plano Police Department. Officer Rollins and I worked patrol together for many years and he not only became my work partner, he became my best friend. Enjoy the write-up and we thank him for his service to our country and also our community.

After 26 years in law enforcement, Officer B. Rollins is retiring.

Officer Rollins began his career with the Plano Police Department on October 13, 1994. Prior to working for Plano, he served our country in the United States Navy for 9 years. While in the Navy, here received the following awards:
• Good Conduct Medal (awarded this twice)
• Battle “E” Award (Battle Effectiveness Award)
• National Defense Award
• Southwest Asia Service Medal with Star
• Navy Unit Commendation (awarded this twice)
• Naval Achievement Award
• Coast Guard Special Operations Ribbon with Star

During his career with the Plano Police Department, he has served in the Patrol Services Unit, Intelligence Unit, Neighborhood Police Officer Unit, and Criminal Investigation Services Division. Officer Rollins earned his Master Peace Officer certification, the highest level obtainable by a Texas Peace Officer. Officer Rollins has received the following awards and accomplishments:
• Named “Officer of the Year” in 2014
• 126 individual commendations
• Chiefs Unit Award (received this award twice)
• Meritorious Service Award (received this award twice)
• Civic Achievement Award (received this award 4 times)
• Named “Officer of the Year” in 2016 by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW)

Officer Rollins will be missed by many but we thank him for his dedicated service to this department and the citizens of Plano. We wish him the best in his retirement.
