Replat, revised site plan approved for Children’s Medical Center Plano expansion

PLANO, TX – Children’s Health system took a step toward future expansion at its Plano campus with a Planning and Zoning Commission decision March 1.

The health system received approval from commissioners for a replat of the campus’ 56 acres in order to create necessary easements for the expansion. A revised site plan reflecting those adjustments was also approved at the meeting.

Children’s Health announced in January 2020 that it plans to double the size of the Plano campus at the southwest corner of Preston Road and Hedgcoxe Road with the construction of a seven-story, 300,000-square-foot hospital tower. The new facility expects to increase the campus’ hospital beds from 72 to 240 by 2023, as previously reported by Community Impact Newspaper.

The hospital’s oncology, cardiology, neurology, orthopedics and gastroenterology programs are expected to operate from the new tower.

The Plano children’s hospital will also increase its provision of related medical offerings, such as laboratory, pharmacy and imaging services.
