Third times the charm as track finally has first meet

PLANO, TX – With the first two track meets of the season being canceled due to weather, the Redhawk athletes are finally able to hit the ground running with the start of their season on Saturday morning at the Pirate Invitational at Wylie Stadium.

“With our first two meets getting cancelled we have had more time to practice and really work on relays and events,” junior Jada Williams said. “It made me realize that we could very well only run a few meets so I have to make the most of it.”

With some athletes like Williams competing in multiple events, she has a variety of goals for this season.

“My goals for this meet are to jump 17 feet in the long jump,” Williams said. “And I want our 4×1 to win.”

For the boys’ relay team, they have been working close together.

“We’ve spent a lot of time working on our handoffs,” senior Will Ashmore said. “And perfecting our relays during practice.
