CVS begins public COVID-19 vaccinations at select pharmacies across North Texas
PLANO, TX – CVS Health began administering COVID-19 vaccines at select pharmacy locations across North Texas on Feb. 11.
The vaccines are being allocated directly from the federal government as part of the pharmacy partnership program. Locations in Plano, Frisco, Richardson and Roanoke received vaccines the week of Feb. 8, according to documentation on the Texas Department of State Health Services website.
A limited number of CVS Pharmacy locations across 11 states will distribute approximately 250,000 total doses through the program, a Feb. 2 release said. As more supply becomes available the company plans to expand to additional states and to increase the number of stores offering vaccinations, CVS Health said in an updated release Feb. 11. With CVS Pharmacy’s nearly 10,000 locations nationwide, including those in North Texas, the company has the capacity to administer up to 25 million shots per month, the company previously said.
Vaccines will be offered in an appointment-only basis and can be scheduled via CVS.com, through the CVS Pharmacy app or by calling 800-746-7287, per the release. Booking for vaccines at the selected pharmacy locations will open as stores receive shipments, per the release, but advance appointments for booking were expected to open as early as Feb. 9.
CVS Health has previously administered vaccines at skilled nursing facilities and will continue that effort of providing more than 40,000 vaccines throughout February.
