Plano man arrested on aggravated sex assault charge after hours-long SWAT standoff

PLANO, TX – After an hours-long standoff with SWAT officers, a 43-year-old man was arrested by Plano police on suspicion of aggravated sexual assault and other charges Friday night.

Police were called to a house in the 8100 block of Haning Drive, near Coit and Hedgcoxe roads, on a domestic violence call about 1 p.m. Friday. As officers arrived, the alleged victim flagged them down and said the suspect, Mahmoud Dessouky, was inside with a gun.

An officer tried talking to Dessouky, but he refused to cooperate, police said. The department’s police emergency services unit, which includes SWAT and crisis negotiators, arrived and began negotiations. SWAT officers arrested Dessouky about 9 p.m., police said.

Dessouky is charged with aggravated sexual assault, possession of a controlled substance and violating a protective order, according to the county’s jail log.
